SHOW & TELL: September Ipsy Bag!

Hey guys! Today I'm just going to quickly show you the Ipsy bag I received this month! I know it's late, I accidentally had it sent to my house instead of school and had to wait for my mom to mail it to me, but I'm so excited about it that I'm going to show it anyways! This is the first beauty subscription service I've ever subscribed to, and I'm pleasantly surprised.
The theme for this month's bag was "Street Style" although I don't think there's much of a connection between the products. The makeup bag is a metallic faux-leather with stud detailing, which I'm not a huge fan of but I'm not deducting points for that. My bag came with 5 products, and all but the hand cream are full size. I did some googling, and the estimate value of this bag is about $66, which is crazy! Here's a quick rundown on the products included:
Pacifica 7 Free Nail Color in Red Red Wine, which retails for $9. This color is gorgeous and I'm super excited to try it out (the product is also apparently 100% vegan and cruelty free!)
Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in 09 Basic Instinct, which retails for $19! I'm not sure if this color is the most flattering for me and I may end up passing it on to someone else, but the formula seems pretty nice. It's a very opaque gloss which leans towards being a liquid lipstick.
Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara in Blackest Black, which retails for $9. I have yet to try this mascara but it seems to be a pretty straight-forward volumizing mascara to me.
Be a Bombshell Smooth Criminal Powder, which retails for $12. I don't know if this is a new product, but every review on the website mentions that they got it in their Ipsy bag, and there isn't much about it on the internet. This is a white, translucent setting powder that claims to reduce pore size, fine lines, etc. The only ingredient is Silica, so I'm very interested in seeing how this powder works out.
Mitchell and Peach Flora No. 1 Luxury Hand Cream, which retails for $34. This is the only product that is not full-size but it is half-size, making it a $17 value! This has a very lavendery, floral scent and is packed with lots of skin loving nutrients and essential oils. This makes my hands feel very soft and leaves no greasy residue or anything like that.
That quick rundown wasn't as quick as I planned...Nonetheless, this bag definitely surpassed my expectations. I had to cancel my subscription because I'm a broke college student, but I will definitely look into ordering again once I have more money. Looking at all of the products that I could have received, I do feel that this bag was pretty well tailored to my interests and all of the products are something that I will use. I am very impressed!

SHOW & TELL: Sleek Ultra Mattes V1 Brights Eyeshadow Palette

Hey Guys! I need to tell you that I have discovered my new favorite eyeshadow palette. I have used this baby once and I immediately knew I had to share it on this blog. This is the Sleek MakeUP i-Divine Ultra Mattes v1 Brights Palette. Damn that is the longest product name ever. I bought this on Sleek's website  for a total of $10.34 including shipping. I have always lusted after Sugarpill palettes and when the Urban Decay Electric palette came out I wanted to die. However as you know I am broke as a joke so the price tag on this palette is almost the whole reason why I bought it but the quality is why I will recommend it. The shadows are all pigmented and buttery for the most part. The only shadow that was "chalky" like matte shadows tend to be was the white shade, Pow!. I have only used it as a highlight shade and to blend out harsh lines so it hasn't been a problem for me. Also I experience little fall out with these shadows except the deep green Dragon Fly. That shadow is so soft that it basically crumbled every time I put my brush into it and I ended up with a lot of green under my eyes. The only other shadow I have had problems with is Crete, which is a basic light grey. I find that this is not particularly pigmented but it wasn't a color I was really excited about or anything so I don't mind.

For the price this palette cannot be beat. It has a lot of similar colors from the Electric palette (keep in mind this palette is completely matte) and is a great value. There are 12 shadows that are .03 oz each compared to the Electric palette which has 10 .04 oz shadows. Obviously this is not an exact dupe for any of the high end eyeshadow palettes, but it is definitely an amazing option for someone on a budget or just someone who needs more matte, bright goodness in their life!

MAC, NYX & ETSY HAUL!

(Alternatively titled: I'm a terrible person and am not fit for adulthood)

I turned 18 in March. I graduated from high school a month ago. In a few months I will be heading off to college, to live away from my family. I'm starting to transition into adulthood but yet I still can't be trusted around money.
Like I said, I graduated this month so I received a lot of money from my relatives. Luckily my tuition next year isn't too expensive and I'll be able to cover it with my summer job, so I looked at this money as my "fun money." Kind of a "I'm going to college in a few months and will never be able to spend any money on myself so fuck it I'm treating myself" thing. This is a good thing for you guys, because these products will generate a lot of content in the coming weeks. It's not such a good thing for my bank account but yolo, right? (Did I just say yolo? Ugh) Anyways, I was super excited and wanted to quickly show you guys what I bought!

Lip Product Addict Tag!

(ignore the horrible photoshop job, i'm working on my skillz)

My name is Rachel and I am a lipstick addict. As the title of my blog suggests, I'm addicted to makeup in general but lip products are my biggest vice. I saw this tag going around a few months ago and wanted to wait until I had built up my stash of lip products but I saw someone else do it today and I couldn't resist. My collection isn't the largest right now and it is almost entirely from the drugstore but I refuse to let my poor girl status stand in the way of my blogging! Soooo, onto the tag!

| That's a Really Volcanic Ensemble | OOTD

Soooo this isn't a traditional outfit of the day, but I was so excited about this outfit that I couldn't not share it. We recently had a spirit week at school, and "throwback thursday" was one of the days. They encouraged us to wear our best 80s gear and my mind instantly went to the great teen movies of the decade. Most people went the neon-and-legwarmers route, but I decided to channel one of my favorite 80s movie characters: Duckie Dale from Pretty in Pink.

January/February Wrap-Up!

Hey guys, today's post is going to be my January/February wrap-up! I don't try out enough products in a single month to warrant a favorites post every month, so I'll probably be doing these on a bimonthly or trimonthly basis. I'm also going to call these posts 'wrap-ups' instead of 'favorites' because there may be a post where I don't like anything that I've tried or I don't have any products at all! These posts are more of just a summary of my month; products I've tried, movies I've watched, things I've done, etc. I don't want to restrict myself to just favorites, y'know? (Also, everyone does favorites posts. I'm an original so I need to do something different) ((Gosh I hope the sarcasm there was evident))
Alright, with all of that out of the way, let's get into the wrap-up!
